This is the way to create and use ftp sub accounts:

1. Log in to your control panel.
2. On your control panel, scroll down until you see the "FTP" section.
3. Click on FTP manager.
4. Once in there, go down to the very bottom option labeled "FTP sub-accounts".
5. Click on the icon (a page with a green arrow).
6. This is the new ftp sub accout screen. fill out the information as you wish , following these guidlines:
  • A login name of at least 5 characters
  • For relative home directory, use a forward slash (/) followed by a folder name that you wish the files to be sent to. (ex: /customer_files).
  • A password of 5 or more characters, that does not match the login name
  • Confirm password (re-enter it).
7. Click submit, and you are done.

The files that are uploaded are not in the web root, and will not be accessible for download over the internet. It is recommended that it stays this way, especially if the files are sensitive or confedential. You will see the folder when you log in with your main ftp account. That is where all of the files uploaded by the sub-account will be stored.

If you do want the folder to be accessible from the web, it must contain your website path (example: /yoursite.com/uploadfolder would be accessible on the web as http://yoursite.com/uploadfolder)

To let people access the FTP account:
They can use any FTP program that they choose, or their internet browser.
To use the browser, simply type ftp://www.yoursiteurl.com.
From here, they can type in the username/password that you give them, and they can upload files.
You can also have the user type in ftp://username@yoursite.com. This will drop them directly into the sub account folder

Note: You can edit or delete this account at any time. to edit it, click on the first icon by the name (a page with a hammer). To delete it, click on the trash can icon.
